Terms of Service
- Noteshell runs on your computer. Your notes are ordinary files on your disk, they stay yours, and we claim nothing in them.
- The beta is free and unfinished. It can break and it can lose work, so keep your own backups.
- Use it lawfully, and don’t resell or take it apart.
1. Who you’re agreeing with
Noteshell (“we”, “us”) makes the Noteshell desktop app and this website. Using either means you accept these terms. You need to be at least 13, or older if your country sets a higher age.
2. It’s a beta, and it comes as-is
Features appear, change and disappear, and things that worked last week may not work this week. There is no Noteshell server holding a copy of your work, so the only copy is the one on your machine and whatever backup you keep. We may change, suspend or end the beta at any time.
Noteshell is provided as-is, with no warranty. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for lost work, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential damage. Some places don’t allow those limits, and where that’s true this section applies as far as it legally can and no further.
3. Your work is yours
Everything you make, from notes and Builds to dashboards, widgets, and datasets, belongs to you. We claim no ownership and take no licence to use it. It lives as ordinary files in a folder you chose, so you can copy it, move it, or open it with any other program, with or without us.
Noteshell itself is ours. While the beta runs you may install and use it on machines you control; you may not resell, rent, sublicense or host it as a service, or reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows anyway.
4. Use it lawfully
Don’t break the law with it, don’t use it to harm anyone, and don’t attack the service or the accounts you connect it to. If you find a security problem, mail security@noteshell.io. Test only against your own installation and your own data, and we won’t come after you for it.
5. The agent
Noteshell’s agent writes files, runs commands and reaches the internet on your machine, with your permission. It can be wrong, and it can act on a web page or a document that turns out to be hostile. Check what it does before you rely on it. Images it generates arrive marked as AI-generated by the provider that made them.
6. Ending it, and changes
Stop whenever you like: delete the app, and your files stay where they are. We can end your access if you break these terms. And these terms will grow as Noteshell does, especially once paid plans arrive. The date at the top is the current version, and continuing to use Noteshell after a change means you accept it.
